Annie is as tall as I am now! How the time flies. We have been kind of quiet on the music front lately. I believe God has us listening to Him right now to see what direction we should go.
So I guess we'll keep trusting Him and do what He wants us to do. All I know for sure is that it is all worth it when a lady at the nursing home was so touched by a song Charlie and I wrote that she is telling everyone that we are going to sing it at her funeral. That's what doing music ministry is all about. . .touching lives and giving people a reason to smile and maybe a little hope along the way.
Of course we're always busy at Pierce Baptist, with the music and the kids.

and we are still singing as we go. . .

The weather here the last couple of days is surely a reminder that the summer has gone and winter is not far away.
We are keeping busy with our after school bible club and the kids band and continually seeking Yahweh's guidance in what we should be doing.

This Saturday we will be at the Grace Evangelical Church in Longmont at 2:20 pm.

Our dulcimer building friend from church has blessed us with a double or courting dulcimer. It has a larger body and two necks facing opposite directions. Two people sit facing each other and play it at the same time. Annie and I have discovered that it is not as easy as it looks. We can almost do Row, Row, Row Your Boat as a round, but like I said, almost.
The same gracious gentleman has also loaned Annie a fiddle to use and see if she would like to learn how to play it. She's only had it since Sunday and seems to be making some music on it, not just a bunch of noise.
I guess we will be busy working on new instruments as well as new songs.

Our First Friday Fests continue on at the Pierce Baptist Church the next one is October 2nd.
If you're in the area join us some time.

we continue to sing as we go. . .

Saturday August 15th we will be singing for the Harriman Community Church dinner and potluck. The festival at Calhan is never a disappointment, it was great to see old friends and make some new ones. Of course the music was great and fellowshipping with other people that believe the way you do is always such an uplifting time. We also spent four days in the hills of Wyoming at the Happy Jack Music Festival. We had family come see us on Sunday which was very special and spnet time hiking and planning with no tv, computer, and even very little wind.

Annie's horseless horse project was selected to go to the State Fair, which made us all very proud of her and all her hard work.

Our afternoon club at Pierce is going strong. We've been averaging 20 kids a week which is great. We also have several who have started taking guitar lessons and are forming the JOYFUL NOISE BAND. They will be taking their music out into the community and sharing the gospel message with others.

Charlie is still without steady work, but the LORD keeps providing. We have food on the table, a roof over our heads, and seems like we always have the gas money to get where He sends us. Ti truly is a priviledge and honor to get to serve such a loving and gracious God.

May you all have a very blessed rest of the summer.

we are singing as we go . . .

First Friday Fests

We are excited to announce the latest in our lives. Starting May 1, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Pierce we will have what we are billing as mini-festivals. Each and every First Friday we will have supper at 5:30 followed by a concert at 6:30 and conclude the evening with an old-time jam. In May our friends Gary and Suzie Solomon will bring their old-time 'porch' music to the church for a good time. On June 5th, the band "Dry Creek" featuring Bill and Carol Trombee will be the featured performers.
If you have an act, musical, comedy, even a family friendly, Christ centered drama, we would love to discuss being a part of us. Contact us at SING2HIMPLUS1@yahoo.com.
If you don't have an act and are in the area join us for a free evening of fellowship, music and fun. Charlie is going on a year of not having a regular paycheck, we've had to move in with my family so Internet time is limited, and the rest of my reasons are only cheap excuses. We've had a lot of good things happen this past year also. There were the GospelGrass Festivals we participated in. We have been in on an after school Bible Club at the First Baptist Church of Pierce since it began last July. We are starting a First Friday Fest in May at church. There is a lot to be thankful for and that is what I need to remember.
We are working on getting our own web site up, and making our own CD, and Annie and I have Facebook Accounts. We are doing more music at area nursing homes and praying about what we can do to financially survive AND serve Father Yahweh at the same time.
There is a lot to share but for now I can say that I updated the blog.

we will always be singing as we go . . .
Sue

PS We are looking for Christian performers - musicians, comedians, etc that would like to be a featured performer at one of our First Friday Fests. We can't guarantee how many people will be there but we will feed you supper and take up a offering for you and have a good time. Charlie did lose his paying job a couple of weeks ago. He's put in applications but that's as far as he seems to get. It's trust in Him and seek His guidance in where Charlie is suppose to be. With Charlie being home more it will give us more time for the music.
We did recieve a blessing at church this morning. A gentleman who makes mountain dulcimers brought one for Annie. Since she plays her autoharp at Sunday morning services, he decided that she should have no problems learning the dulcimer. We have no clue how to even tune this instrument but it will be a fun experience for all of us to learn. It looks nice sitting by the guitar that an ex-co-worker of Charlie's gave him a couple of weeks before Charlie was let go from his job. There is one thing I have no doubt about during this transition time in our lives - YHWH has given us the gift of music and expects us to use it and continue to learn new things.
Gospelgrass CD - part 2

We received a copy of the Gospelgrass Sampler CD yesterday. The music is good and like I said in my previous post song #13 is special to us. I tried to explain how I was feeling to someone yesterday and I don't have words. I think I've always had the dream of being in a music group and having the music recorded, but something has always been in the way. Yesterday I saw a part of a long-time dream come true, our name listed after the name of a song Charlie wrote, on a CD that was being sold at a festival in Oklahoma City on Saturday. It is a lesson and a reminder to not give up on dreams, YHWH will make them come true when it's right and in His time. I don't know if God has 'dreams' for his children in the same way we have dreams, but if He does, I know that the dreams He has for us are so much bigger than anything we can imagine. The wait for the next part is going to be an exciting one.

we are singing as we go . . .

Gospelgrass Sampler CD

The 2008 Gospelgrass Sampler CD is now available at gospelgrass.com! What is the Gospelgrass Sampler CD you may ask, well let me tell you. Susie and Gary Solomon put on gospelgrass festivals in several states and believe in supporting local talent. They compile songs from some of their bands and sell them to help finance the festivals. This years sampler is special to us. Song #13 is Charlie's cowboy song he wrote last June at the Rocky Mountain Gospelgrass Festival in Calhan. We haven't heard any of the other songs yet, but from what we have heard from some of the other bands it is sure to be worth the $10 donation[plus $2.50 shipping]. It's available at gospelgrass.com.

Time doesn't fly it disappears

I could say "I can't believe it's been almost two months since I posted a comment", but then I know that I have told myself on several occasions lately that I needed to get back to this. Yes, I've been busy, but haven't we all. Anyway, 2007 is gone and we can only look forward to what YWHH has in store for us in 2008. The exciting news for us is that we have been asked to be a featured band at the Happy Jack Music Festival in August. It is an annual event held at Curt Gowdy State Park in Wyoming. Charlie is excited because it's Wyoming - and being from there he still feels attached to the state. I'm excited because they asked us, and the festival is held in an outdoor amphitheater there is no better place to praise the LORD!
We continue to work on our CD. In YHWH's timing it will all come together, I know we would like for it to happen sooner than later but it will happen.
We do have what I call a 'backwards' praise report. The nursing home we enjoy singing at gave us enough money last year that we are going to have to report it as income to the IRS. Now, I know that to some people that probably isn't something to praise HIM about, but to us it truly is. Deep down I know that we still dream that our music will someday provide all our needs, and HE is showing us that it can happen. Just trust.
The adventure for 2008 is looking promising.

Where does time go - again

It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is over and the end of the year will be here before we know it. We have been busy learning new music and trying to get a cd recorded. How come a song sounds really good and 'perfect' until you try to make a permanent copy of it? As of today we have 3 ready to be burned onto the cd.
We are also making plans for 2008. We are scheduled to play at the Winter Gospelfest on January 19 in Boulder. Of course Sunday mornings at the Pierce Baptist Church and two or three times a week at a local nursing home are keeping us busy.
I hope you all have a peaceful holiday season. Maybe I am just getting old, or maybe the words spoken in Jeremiah 6.16 hold true for all aspects of our life, from God to family to music. I often hear the argument that the younger generation won't understand the old ways, but if we don't at least expose them to the "old" ways then how can they understand them. And now I will end my rambling and go listen to some "old" music done the way I think God intended it to be done.

singing [the old-fashioned way and proud of it] as we go . . .

Singing in the Rain

Yesterday was the benefit bull riding for Kallee. What a wonderful afternoon we had being a part of it. We got to meet this special little girl, who is so full of life and joy. We then provided music during intermission. It was cold and cloudy all day and had rained a little yesterday morning, so of course when we started singing it started raining. I am very thankful for Connie and her big umbrella. She stood behind us with her umbrella and kept us dry. When we felt the LORD calling us into music ministry I never thought about us singing in the rain at a bull riding but the old hymn about showers of blessings has new meaning today. And yes, in spite of the weather and small crowd several hundred dollars was raised for a special little lady and her family.

SINGING FOR A GOOD CAUSE

On October 13, 2007 there will be bullriding for a little girl who hasn't turned one yet that has an inoperable brain tumor. Of course the comment at the top of the list said that he had a "method" for everything, but sometimes I wonder if that is all bad. In case you didn't get the comment about a method for everything, in addition to being a prolific songwriter and evangelist, John Wesley was involved in starting the Methodist Church. With that said here are his singing rules:

1. learn the tune
2. sing the song as it is printed
3. sing all the song
"if that is a cross to you, take it up and you will find a blessing"
4. sing lustily and with good courage
lustily means full of vigor, vitality, powerful, strong, merry, joyous
5. sing in time
do not run before or stay behind
6. sing modestly - do not bawl, sob or cry out loudly
7. above all - sing spiritually
have an eye to God in every word you sing -
aim at pleasing Him more than any other creature -
8. attend strictly to the sense of what you sing and see that your heart is not carried away
with the sound
9. offer your singing to God continually

we continue to sing as we go . . .

where does time go

I think we all wonder where the time goes anymore. When I started this blog I told myself I was going to make sure I made some kind of entry at least once a week. As you can see by the dates, I haven't held up to the deal I made with myself.
There isn't anything new to report on the music front. It seems like there is a lot of behind the scenes things to get accomplished right now.
We are looking forward to this Saturday - September 22, 2007. Circuit Riders, a cowboy gospel group from Cody Wyoming will be at the Pierce Baptist Church at 1:30 pm. After their concert there will be refreshments and a bluegrass gospel jam. I always enjoy the chance to get to sit back and listen to other performers. It is also fun to get to talk to musicians that have been doing this for some time as they are full of information that they love to share. I also feel it's important to support others whenever we can. The church is at 5th and Cave. All are welcome and a love offering will be taken, and I'm fairly sure the group has cd's.

I just found out that we will be doing a 30 minute set of our music at the Sutton's Barn Dance on September 29. If you aren't familiar with the jams it is an afternoon of free family fun. Musicians of all ages and abilities join each other singing and picking good old fashioned gospel songs. Everyone is encouraged to participate to the best of their ability, even it that ability consists of only being able to make a joyful noise. We are thankful for the doors that have been opened for us by our attendance at some of these jams. If you are in northern Colorado take time to join us at one or more of the following scheduled events, and if you aren't in Northern Colorado, there are jams all across the country.

Upcoming Bluegrass Gospel Jams in Northern Colorado:

September 8th 1:30 pm
Johnson's Corner Truck Stop south of Loveland on I-25

September 22 1:30 pm
Pierce Baptist Church
The group Circuit Riders from Cody Wyoming will present their music followed by a jam

October 6 1:30 pm
Buckhorn Presbyterian Church, Masonville

October 13 1:30 pm
Johnson's Corner

Hope you can come have some fun with some really neat people.

We are still singing as we go. . .

I know I said in the beginning that the blog would be about where we would be, but as of now we have a couple of places we may be playing at but nothing is confirmed as of today. We did get to spend two days last week in Wyoming at a musicians retreat. Of course there was jamming going on but the best thing was spending two days hiking, just the three of us, and being able to enjoy some of Gods finest creation. Of course the fact that there was no city noise and very few people around helped immensely. It also gave us time to think and pray and dream about how we want to glorify our maker in every aspect of our music, and lives. I think the best part of the trip, for me anyway, was all the little things Annie got to experience for the first time, especially seeing the Milky Way. [Where we live that never happens.] We saw animals and flowers and fed chipmunks our popcorn, and came home with ideas for new songs and projects for school.

I wanted to take a couple of minutes and let everyone know about the place we spend our Sunday mornings. We are part of the praise band for the Pierce Baptist Church. This is not your ordinary praise band. It is all acoustic, except for the weeks the organist comes, and it is old time gospel music. We've have only been going for a month now but it is so exciting to see something new start to happen. Pastor Cliff felt led to start something like this and within two weeks he had it going. One other special thing for me is that Annie is welcome to bring her guitar and be a part of the praise team just like the grown-ups. Age and ability are not factors in who is welcome to be a part of the team. If you're ever in the area on a Sunday morning, the church is located at 5th and Cave in Pierce. Services start at 11:00. And if you'd like to join in with the praise team we practice at 9:45.

Greetings.
This is the offical blog of the family music group formally known as the Charlie Pantier Family. As of last week we changed the name to sing2Him+one.
